Alexander Sammartino was born in Rhode Island and grew up in Arizona. He received his MFA in fiction from Syracuse University. He lives in Brooklyn with his wife and cat.
His first novel, Last Acts, was a New York Times Editors’ Choice, a finalist for the NYPL Young Lions Fiction Award, a Southwest Book of the Year, and selected as one of the five best books of 2024 by Service95. It is available from Scribner in the US and Pushkin ONE in the UK.
In 2025 he was selected by George Saunders as a National Book Foundation 5 Under 35 Honoree. His next novel, Gallo, is forthcoming from Scribner.
